The Story—The Foundation

East of Eden (EOE) Rescue is a companion pet rescue and adoption non profit
head quartered in Tracy, CA, and run entirely by volunteers. The organization’s
mission is to improve the welfare of companion animals in the East Bay and
Central Valley.

The Plot–The Blueprint

East of Eden Rescue needed a full website makeover to attract qualified pet owners and circulate information to their community regarding various aspects of the rescue. During our discovery sessions, the client’s website needs, content plans, overall wishes were thoroughly addressed.

East of Eden Rescue needed a website that helped them keep in touch with their local community and a network reaching beyond Northern California. They needed a calendar that automatically updates on their home page, letting folks know when and where the adoption events take place. A Homepage section devoted to community news is where visitors could get updates on individuals looking for a home, success stories, and press releases.

One of the most important functions the East of Eden Rescue website needed was to offer a gallery where one can view adoptable pets, and fill out an online adoption applications when the one was spotted.

The Synopsis–The Build

Our Team listened to East of Eden Rescue’s website woes and built an online presence that matched the joy this type of work brings its volunteers. While much of the inner workings of pet adoption and rescue are dark and discouraging, our team approached the look of the website to represent the brighter side of the things. Our team chose a fun color palette of teals and pinks. We used the client’s extensive image library to showcase past and current animals across the website. Finally, we made sure their community could access the information they were looking for, whether it be the date of an upcoming adoption event, a dog or cat adoption application, or ways to support the rescue.
