Getting your business started on Pinterest

Pinterest is a fun tool for creativity and to find new ideas. Even to give inspiration to others. When you are short of ideas, looking for something new to eat, to experience, or even information, Pinterest is a diverse platform that anyone can use. You can post original videos and pictures, as well as repining others, work to share. Pinterest can be used from a computer, tablet, and mobile device
When you are a business owner you want to get on as many platforms as possible. Having a business account on Pinterest will help you get your work out there. Not only that it can give you insight on how your page is being followed and how much your business is getting attention through analytics.

How to post

Getting started is very simple. After you create an account, that’s free, you can start pining images and videos that match your business. Your post should be frequent from the day that you start. They should also match your industry. Since it is not a personal account you want to make sure that everything you post has a purpose. Like Instagram, you will see a plus (+) sign at the bottom center with the words “create” underneath. This will be for mobile posting. It will be different when you are on a laptop.
The great thing is that you can upload your own images or even re-pin someone else image and add it to the boards you have created. Boards are what your viewers will see when they are on your page and your content will also be found in the discover section or in someone’s feed when what you have matched their searches. Make sure to add a simple description to your post. It just needs to say what it is so when a user goes into the search engine it will appear in the searched feed. For example, when I search “Happy Puppy” my search results will be of images with a similar description.
You can add some hashtags but they aren’t helpful when it comes to Pinterest. It’s possible that some unrelated things will come up. It doesn’t hurt to try them out or even create your own to have a unique hashtag for your views to search. Hashtags are more for Instagram and Twitter where the hashtags can be followed and trend.

Organization

Keeping your page organized is very important so it can be easy to navigate and so other users can understand what your page is about. You can do this by creating boards and keeping them titled to what they are. So, if you have a page that is all about Fashion then that means that your boards are mostly going to be about the different areas of fashion. For example, you can have a board that is all about “spring shoes” and only post and pin pics and videos of shoes perfect for the springtime. Keeping organized will you post better and will make it easier to be found.
Pinterest is said to be surpassing other social apps and is at No.3 in the U.S. They have about 75.5 million users as of 2019 said by a report from eMarketer. Since last year Pinterest has been on a path of growth and will continue to grow its users. The great thing about Pinterest is that anyone can use it for shopping needs, ideas, projects, new products, etc. It’s a place where anyone can come in to shop for all kinds of merch. Getting your products on there is simple and can be directed back to your website where you sell your products. Prices can even be added to the posts.

Pinterest Analytics

If you do decide to create a business account, you will have access to the analytics in the section called overview. This tells you about the impressions, audience, and engagements. The impressions are how many times your pins have been seen, the audience is how many monthly users you have viewed/follows your page, and the engagement is how many users are re-pining your content. It is all in a 30-day cycle and you will be the only one who will be only to see the information.
This helps you see what content is being constantly searched, re-pined, and what content is working for your page. You will be able to see if most of your views are coming from mobile or laptop devices. Once you know what it is that is driving your page it is easier to create more boards and keep them up. Keeping up your page weekly will give you more results and will bring more engagement and that is what you want. Also, make sure that you are keeping up with the trends by researching and getting to know your clients. The more that you are in the know, the better the results you will receive to grow your business.
